September 2009 Networking Breakfast Alzheimer's Association offers help for employers, employees With Alzheimer's Disease affecting more families each day its impact on business can be devastating. At the September 25 Networking Breakfast, a team from the Alzheimer's Association outlined their services, which seek to ease work-related difficulties that arise following a diagnosis. Ian Kremer, Advocacy & Outreach Director, (pictured,) presented information regarding their Corporate Assistance Program, which helps HR professionals, employee assistance programs, and supervisors make a positive and supportive difference in the workplace. Tammy Reardon, Corporate Assistance Director, (pictured,) presented ways to smooth transitions and maintain productivity and brain health on the job. Karen Zimmerman, an associate who is living with Alzheimer's, spoke about her difficult move from high-profile meeting planner to her current role as advocate. The team's thorough solutions and generous offers of help encouraged many who stayed late to get details. Commemorating the 900th Anniversary of St. Anselm, CBN-PG President Sean O'Brien presented September's grant to Prior Simon McGurk OSB, and St. Anselm's Abbey School Headmaster Louis Silvano (pictured.) The grant will be used for tuition assistance. Silvano described the school's facets and presented a slide show of school activities. Meeting Sponsor and Key Leadership Member Tony Laubach, (pictured,) of Laubach & Regnell Financial Services LLC, explained how principled investing and money management should be a duty of Catholic businesspeople. Tony helps clients choose appropriate investments and navigate the maze of thousands of financial offerings. Meeting Sponsorships have been reduced to $250 per breakfast and several already have stepped up to the plate to underwrite upcoming meetings.Members and guests were reminded of the coming Crab Feast (Sept. 27,) Golf Classic (Oct. 8,) and Awards Dinner, which will be held on May 4, 2010 at the Marriott Greenbelt. August, 2009 Networking Breakfast July 2009 Networking Breakfast Social networks can grow businesses Aside from being a fantasic way to keep in touch with friends and family, social media on the Internet can benefit businesspeople, according to speaker and CBN member Peg Duchesne. At July's meeting, Duchesne not only demystified Facebook, MySpace, LinkedIn and other online sites, she also showed the efficacy of her own networking by bringing six first-time guests to the meeting.Bishop McNamara HS President Heather Gossart, pictured above with CBN-PG President Sean O'Brien and Duchesne, won one of several prizes Duchesne gave away - a book on online networking. Both a Facebook and LinkedIn group are now active for CBN-PG members and this month there will be a monthly email newsletter to better keep in touch with one another. Judy Walsh-Mellett and Wendy Shenk Evans from Chrstian Family Montessori School accepted July's grant, which will be used for tuition assistance. Judy shared a prayer that expressed the school's gratitude for CBN's generosity and the good friendships that have been forged over the years. They are pictured at left with Grants Co-Chair Steve Kemp and O'Brien John B. Kincaid, Sr., Chartered CPA became the third Key Leadership Member.
