About CBNPG

The Catholic Business Network of Prince George's County (CBN-PG) is an organization of men and women dedicated to supporting Catholic education in Prince George's County and applying the principles of our faith in the marketplace.

We promote valuable networking opportunities among CBN-PG members, as well as additional support within the County for the education of our young men and women.

Jim Palmer

We at CBN-PG remain committed to our work in the area of outreach.  We want to make sure that businesses in the county know who we are, extend a warm hand of hospitality and invitation to them to join us, and make sure that as a networking organization we can continue to support the very businesses who are supporting Catholic education.

At the same time, we want to continue to nurture our relationships with our county schools and parishes.  Together we do make a difference.

Jim Palmer

January, 2008 Networking Breakfast
Workplace workouts are no sweat
with Bradley's Quick Fit program

Rick Bradley motivates the troopsResolute to start 2008 on the right foot, nearly 50 attendees were motivated to move at the January 25 networking breakfast. Rick Bradley, whose Quick Fit method has helped clients increase productivity through simple exercise and lifestyle changes, is pictured coaching the crowd in stretching exercises as he entertained with stories from his career.

Over the years, Bradley has worked for organizations as diverse as the Redskins and the Department of Transportation. He shared his philosophy of fitness with members and guests, and gave away several DVDs and Quick-Fit kits which reinforce his program.

December, 2007 Networking Breakfast
Christmas gifts abound for schools
Surprise Grant RecipientsThe presents were lined up under the tree: a surprise Christmas bonus for any school who made a reservation and attended the December 14 Networking Breakfast. Thanks to successful fundraising events in 2007, the CBN-PG Board was able to give each of these schools a gift bag containing coffee, logo mugs -- oh, and a $500 check.

GranteesThe grantees were: Carl Berger of St. Ambrose, Diane Blair of Piux X, Valerie Carroll of Mt. Calvary, Heather Gossart of Bishop McNamara, Susan Scott of St. John the Evangelist, Michelle Jones of Holy Redeemer, Fr. John McKay of St. Mark's, and Sharon Pasterick of Elizabeth Seton.

GranteesThey were joined by Dr. Dan McMahon of DeMatha, Donna Potenza of St. Columba, Steve Showalter of St. Mary of the Assumption, Christopher Trott of St. Hugh's, Susan Junge Varrone of St. Mary's, Judy Walsh-Mellett of Christian Family Montessori and Mary Hawkins of Holy Family. All of the grant recipients listed are pictured above and on the right.

St. Mark CCD GranteesThe presents were just one of the treats enjoyed by nearly 60 guests and members. In between the singing of Advent hymns and Christmas carols, Grants Chairperson Debra Myers awarded addtional $500 grants to the CCD programs at Holy Redeemer and St. Mark the Evangelist. CCD programs often are short on funds. Also, as Deborah McNally of St. Mark's stated, the materials and fees involved keep rising.

Holy Redeemer CCD GranteeSt. Mark's also has a RCIC (Rite of Christian Initiation for Children) program that, if necessary, must train several members of a family at once. Both McNally and assistant Jessica Granados (pictured above with CBN-PG President Jim Palmer) as well as Marie Winterson of Holy Redeemer (pictured at right with Myers and Palmer) expressed their gratitude for the grants.

Brian Seery of Omni Solutions GroupBrian Seery (pictured on left) of Omni Solutions Group, sponsor of the meeting, gave a short presentation on their services, which include web hosting, network administration and everything related to integrating information systems with schools and businesses. Their phone number is 301-869-6890.

Simon McGurk and Lisa SheehanIn keeping with the giving spirit, CBN-PG members also brought gifts and clothing for the children at St. Ann's Infant and Maternity Home. The items were graciously received by St. Ann's Director of Development Lisa Sheehan, pictured on the right talking with Prior Simon McGurk, OSB, of St. Anselm's Abbey.
